Summer in the Mountains (SIM)

Course Overview:

Summer in the Mountains (SIM) is an introductory course designed to introduce people to the skills required for travelling in the mountains. It is taught by volunteers from ACC Edmonton.
  • Classroom sessions (Edmonton) (5) on clothing systems, hypothermia, camping gear, climbing gear, and preparation for outdoor Skills Weekends.
  • Glacier Travel Weekend (Icefields Parkway). Practice glacier travel skills and crevasse rescue systems used on Edmonton Section trips.
  • Outdoor Rock Climbing Weekend (Jasper). Climb outdoors!! This weekend includes top-roping, belaying, anchors, rappelling and escaping a belay.
Cost:

$190 Full Course
Includes: Classroom sessions, course notes, your own copy of freedom of the hills, and two weekends of camping fees.  
Does not include: gear, rentals, food, transportation.

$60 Crevasse Rescue refresher only
Includes: Camping, Instruction
Does not include: gear, rentals, food, transportation.

Gear Required:
